If you are involved on the marketing and web side of things, and have no interest in expanding into other content realms,this is certainly for you. It makes everything more difficult to find, and results in lower quality stratfgy.

No, you’re not going to read this book and walk away a content strategist. In its purest form, content strategy does not produce content.

Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. The content creator is not one of the four originating roles. Basically, the job was conteny oversee all content and somehow unify the experience for users and, while doing so, unify the authoring approach as well.

If contsnt have a chance to read her book, definitely do it. It’s probably because I don’t work in this area but I think that erni on what’s wrong with the book; this book doesn’t know sfrategy it’s a guide to content strategy or it’s an overview to those who may want to employ or work with a content strategist.

Conrent is hands down, the best book I’ve read on defining what content strategy is and isn’t tsrategy the deliverables you will and won’t get by hiring a content strategist. There appears, as far as I can tell, some universal edict that content means – web articles, or some iteration there-of. For me, one of the biggest takeaways is that I need to learn more about editorial work if I want to pitch in as a content strategist as needed. One of my desks is at Studiomates, a collective workspace in Brooklyn, and my other is at home, surrounded by a henge of white bookshelves.

What is a page template good for? White’s handbook on The Elements of Style, which is also a brief book. And I find myself borrowing from it, or just outright quoting from it, in nearly every briefing I present. I think this is definitely a good book to get started with Content Strategy This book, and Erin Kissane, introduced me to content strategy and allowed me to dig deeper into effective ways of learning about it and practicing it.

Even for someone who is very interested in content — online and otherwise — this was just too boring, I am sorry to say. Perfect for someone starting out in content strategy. It presents the concepts and includes many references for deeper reading.

It cojtent with some recent experiences. This does include web copy, blogs, videos, cobtent papers and especially “help”. I find it interesting that despite the love of content, content strategists do not produce it they only shape and steer it.

I love Erin’s humor and straightforward style. Content, then, becomes the connection between a business and its potential customers. Blogs and social media have replaced the days of the newspaper as the arbiter of information.

In about 75 pages, she lays out the principles of content strategy, traces its origins, and then outlines her methodology for doing content strategy. Third chapter is the weakest – it feels the most uncertain about it’s content, probably because this part of the process the actual process and methodologies doesn’t have hard and fast answers.

Sadly, this is absent, at least in any real way from this book as well. Useful for managing content projects. That wasn’t one of the three options. Take an hour or two on a weekend and read it all in one sitting.
