It’s always interesting to hear their personal points of view and opinions on training, even if I don’t necessarily agree with them. My initial reaction is to yank my dog away from things, but that hardly helps at all in any situation. I will never use them for reference, obviously, but I’m kind of hesitant to put them back out in the world where someone else might. IMO you are wasting your time reading that book, the small nuggets of good information can be found elsewhere in greater detail with a much better flavor.
He doesn’t fully subscribe to dominance based training – he’s kind of in this weird middle ground along with a couple of other BC schools. Lists with This Book. Brad Pattison uses out dated methods that are very aversive. I read the book years ago, but getting into competitive dog sports lead me to start attending seminars and read more about learning in general, and I don’t agree with Brad’s point of brqd anymore. Want to Read saving….
