This image places both of them incorrectly and therefore gives the impression that Beleriand is much bigger than it would have belriand. There are several things mentioned or hinted at in the Silmarillion about the eastern area – the Elves awoke somewhere in the east and passed a lot of land on the way to Beleriand, and Men also came from there – but the narrative itself for the first age takes place in Beleriand.
