Beginning Chinese Reader, Part 1

Since I started the book, I have found that any Chinese text is less intimidating. Being able to read and understand written text is my main goal this year.

Is it worth buying another book or is it easy enough to get used to reading just pinyin again? This is the first few pages of lesson 40 and one page of the example texts for that lesson. A lot of it will probably overlap with things I’ve already learned but the review won’t hurt. Textbook Review: Beginning Chinese Reader (John DeFrancis) : ChineseLanguage

Despite many of the reading passages being very outdated ! Any other texts can obviously be substituted for BC but in my experience, you lose a good deal of the repetition and reinforcement.

Ophion rated it really liked it Feb 24, As for expense and availability, the Amazon second hand book system is quite trustworthy, with copies offered for as little as one dollar.
